Jessamine County School Board names new superintendent
JESSAMINE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- Veteran Educator, Matt Moore has been named Jessamine County Schools Superintendent.
The Jessamine County School Board called a special meeting Monday and voted unanimously to appoint Moore as the new superintendent.
Jessamine County Board of Education Chair, Amy Day, said that Moore stood out from the other 16 candidates with a track record of success and vision for the future of Jessamine County Schools.
In his 25 year career, Moore has served Jessamine County Schools in a many capacities.
Most recently, Moore served as Deputy Superintendent- Chief of Staff, which he has held since 2012.
Prior to that position, Moore served as Director of Special Programs for 12 years.
He also taught at both the elementary and high school levels and served as the district Boys’ Varsity Soccer Coach.
Moore is also a military veteran, serving as an Officer in the Army Reserves and Kentucky National Guard from 1985-2008.
Interim Superintendent Val Gallutia will continue as acting superintendent until Mr. Moore’s contract is finalized and approved by the board.
That is expected to take place at the next regular board meeting at the end of July.
