Jessamine Co. crash kills woman, dog

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Jessamine County Sheriff says a woman and a dog were killed in a crash on Brannon Road, near the Fayette County line.

The Sheriff says the wreck happened around 7:00 a.m.

According to deputies, a man and a woman were in the car, along with the dog.  Investigators say the dog distracted the driver, causing her to lose control and run off the roadway, hitting a tree.

The woman was taken to University of Kentucky Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.  The Fayette County Coroner has identified the victim as 47-year-old Julie McGlothen.

The Sheriff says the dog also died from injuries suffered in the crash.
