Jason Ellis Added To National Law Enforcement Memorial
Ellis is one of 286 officers added to the wall, recognized for making the ultimate sacrifice. 17 of those men and women are from Kentucky.
Ellis’ name has been engraved in panel 16w, line 29.
His widow Amy Ellis is at the ceremony in D.C. In a statement she says she appreciates the love, support and prayers poured over her family.
The ceremony brought many community members and friends of the Ellis family. Law enforcement from all over Kentucky came to show their support. His murder last May left so many people stunned, wondering why?
"A goal in my life anymore is to never let him be forgotten," said Buddy Gulden, Bardstown resident. "I just want people to remember the man gave his life helping others."
Rebecca Buzick, an Ellis family friend, said a part of the candle light vigil in Bardstown is to unite the town and community.
Ellis was gunned down along the Bluegrass Parkway while clearing debris off an exit ramp. That was on May 25 of last year.
No one has been arrested in connection to his murder.
State police said the investigation is still open.
