Japanese auto supplier locating plant, 43 jobs in Bardstown

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (AP) — Japanese auto supplier Itsuwa is building a plant in Bardstown, where it plans to create 43 full-time jobs and invest $5.2 million.

Lt. Gov. Crit Luallen announced the plan Thursday in Bardstown. She said Kentucky’s reputation for skilled automotive industry workers keeps growing and helps the economy.

Itsuwa plans to build a 32,000-square-foot coating and painting facility. The plant will be the company’s second U.S. location and first in Kentucky.

Gov. Steve Beshear’s office said in a news release the company expects the facility to be operational early next year.

The state has preliminarily approved the project for tax incentives up to $800,000 and also approved $50,000 in tax incentives.
