LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Laurel County Sheriff’s office was back out at the scene of a building fire, sifting for clues in the rubble, that might help them account for a person, who was reported missing after the fire broke out about 3:30 Monday afternoon (4/22).

Deputies say the fire was in an abandoned building off West Cumberland Gap Parkway, about 10 miles south of London.

Investigators say several homeless people were living in the building, and all but one of them are accounted for.

While battling the flames, a Corbin firefighter was injured and airlifted to UK Hospital, with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Supporting Heroes Facebook page.

The building was the former Kings Truck Stop in southern Laurel County.
