Jailer in eastern Kentucky arrested on felony drug charges
CATLETTSBURG, Ky. (AP) – The sheriff’s office of an eastern Kentucky county says a jailer has been arrested on multiple felony drug charges.
The Daily Independent reports (http://bit.ly/2qB7cZf ) 27-year-old William Alexander Mauk was arrested on Friday after Boyd County sheriff’s deputies pulled him over and found packages of meth, pills and other illegal items.
The sheriff’s office says Mauk was stopped after his shift ended around 1 a.m. He was charged with possession and trafficking of meth and other drug-related offenses.
Jailer Joe Burchett says Mauk began working at the county detention center on April 10, had no prior felony arrests and passed drug screenings. An inmate who was supposed to have been receiving drugs from Mauk tested negative for use along with all other inmates.
It’s unclear if Mauk has an attorney.
