“It’s not about a handout. It’s a hand up.”

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Servant leadership was the big sticking point from this morning’s governor prayer breakfast keynote speaker John Calipari.

It’s not a new concept to Solid Blue fans, but to some, it may seem different.

Cal reminded folks in the crowd how unhappy they were when he first arrived talking about players first instead of program first in Lexington.

How the traditionalists who believe kids shouldn’t even have names on the backs of their jerseys lashed back.  But as Cal said, “I just kept coming.”

To those traditionalists, Cal wants one thing to stick out about servant leadership.  Something he’s definitely realized from his time at UK.
