Irvine man accused of hitting state highway worker
MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – An Irvine man is accused of hitting a state highway worker in Madison County, then fleeing the scene.
According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, 43-year-old Shannon Doyle Mays, struck the side of a state highway truck Tuesday.
When workers told him they were going to call the police, Mays fled the scene, almost hitting three workers but striking a fourth and knocking him into a ditch.
Investigators say workers took down Mays’ license plate number and he was located in Estill County.
Mays is charged with second-degree assault, three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident, driving on a suspended license and no registration plates.
He was booked into the Madison County Detention Center.
