Investigation underway after bomb threat hoaxes target Kentucky universities

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — An investigation is underway after targeted bomb threat hoaxes were made at universities in Kentucky.

According to reporting by the Lexington Herald-Leader, fake bomb threats were made Tuesday to the University of Louisville and Murray State University as part of a nationwide hoax targeting campus libraries.

The newspaper reports Murray State canceled classes around 2 p.m. after receiving the threat.

At the University of Louisville, officials closed campus libraries around the same time. The Herald-Leader reports the buildings reopened around 4 p.m.

Authorities have not reported any credible threats or injuries. The investigation into the hoaxes remains ongoing.
