Investigation after inmate dies in custody in Lexington
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – An inmate at the Fayette County Detention Center has died while in custody. The Fayette County Coroner’s Office has identified the inmate as 47-year-old William Lane, who passed away around 8 p.m. last night.
Lane was in jail on domestic violence charges. According to officials, 9-1-1 was called after they noticed Lane was experiencing medical issues. Despite efforts to assist, Lane did not survive.
Lexington Police and the Coroner’s Office are conducting an investigation, which is standard procedure in such cases. The detention center has also announced that an internal review will be conducted.
