Interviews Start Thursday For FCPS Interim Superintendent
The Fayette County Board of Education will interview three possible candidates for interim school superintendent this week.
The board said one applicant will be interviewed on Thursday and two on Friday then it will determine whether to hold additional interviews or move forward with a selection.
According to John Price, chair of the board, they hope to have an acting superintendent in place quickly so that person can work with current superintendent Tom Shelton, whose last day in the office will be December 12.
"Our acting superintendent will be tasked with improving culture, climate and communications, maintaining a focus on student achievement, addressing the issues in the state audit, continuing the process of redrawing school attendance boundaries, and moving forward on the budget and staffing allocation efforts," Price stated in an email sent to parents. "The high caliber of the candidates we will be meeting with this week gives me confidence that we will find a leader who will support the great work happening in our schools every day."
