Interstate 64 closed after cattle truck overturns

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Authorities have closed Interstate 64 in central Kentucky so crews can herd cattle that escaped after a truck hauling them overturned.

Media report the accident happened early Tuesday near the 53 mile marker and lanes in both directions are closed. A detour has been set up that takes motorists to U.S. 60.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says the trailer was carrying about 150 cows when it overturned and several got loose.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says it expects the interstate to reopen by 9 a.m.
