International Day of Happiness

(WTVQ) – Today, March 20, marks International Day of Happiness.

Did you know only 60% of your happiness is predetermined? The other 40% is in your control.

Below are a few examples of ways that Happify, an online personal happiness trainer, suggests you can take control of your happiness and celebrate the holiday:

· Email someone and thank them for something they did for you.

· Call a good friend and catch up.

· Take 30 seconds to help someone who needs it. Hold the door open for someone or help a neighbor carry their bags in.

· Dance! A few seconds of making happy movements, or watching others make them can produce a life in mood.

· Spend 5 minutes doing something to brighten a loved one’s day. Buy a loved one flowers or send a handwritten note.

· Write down everything from the past week that you’re grateful for – from friends to experiences to small accomplishments.
