Inmate dies while in custody

DAVIESS COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- State police are investigating after an inmate was found dead while in custody at the Daviess County Detention Center.

KSP says 39-year-old James Lester from Owensboro died on arrival at the hospital there, just hours after he landed in the detention center.

Lester was taken to jail Sunday for a public intoxication arrest.

Investigators say three hours later he got sick and emergency personnel took him to the hospital.
