Inmate assaulted in prison in West Liberty

WEST LIBERTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – An inmate at Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex in West Liberty was assaulted Friday in a general population dormitory at the prison, according to the Kentucky Department of Corrections. The reported assault happened shortly after 10:00 a.m., according to corrections officials.

The victim, whose name wasn’t released, was taken to Appalachian Regional Hospital and then transferred to UK Hospital in Lexington. The victim’s condition wasn’t released.

State Police are investigating.
