Indie film crew uses Lexington as backdrop

(LEXINGTON, Ky.) – Downtown Lexington has a pretty vibrant scene after dark. That’s one of the reasons why crews for an indie film chose it as the backdrop of their new movie.

ABC 36 was there as the first scenes of the movie, "Zipporah at the Gate" were filmed off  North Limestone early Friday morning.
The film tells the story of a woman who was reincarnated and now lives in modern day Kentucky.

The director and writer of the film, Bianca Spriggs says this is one of many projects happening within the city.

"There’s actually a very strong independent film scene," Spriggs said. " There’s a lot of independent film makers here and it’s a wonderful treasure that we have that hardly anybody knows about."

Spriggs told ABC 36 that she wants to showcase all of the great scenery of Lexington in the film. The director says the film will be released next year.
