IN DEPTH: Criminal history of suspects in officer shooting

MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – In newly obtained documents, ABC 36 has uncovered information about the three people arrested Wednesday in connection to the shooting of Officer Daniel Ellis.

Raleigh Sizemore, Rita Creech and Gregory Ratliff were all arrested in the hours after Ellis was shot Wednesday morning. State police say Sizemore was the man who pulled the trigger.

According to Kentucky court records, Creech and Ratliff have a clean record. On the other hand, Sizemore is no stranger to law enforcement.

ABC 36 News obtained a stack of documents about Sizemore’s previous run-ins with law enforcement from Madison County. Those documents listed charges that include DUI, arson and manufacturing meth.

In 2012, he pleaded guilty to manufacturing meth and criminal mischief. He was sentenced to ten years in prison for those crimes.

According to other documents obtained during our investigating, Wednesday’s shooting wasn’t the first time Sizemore has been accused of putting officer’s lives in danger.

The documents say in April 2007, Sizemore fled from police while he was drunk and was charged with three counts of wanton endangerment of a police officer, among other charges. He was sentenced to three years in prison for that incident.

Sizemore had been released from prison for the meth charges in April 2015 and placed on probation, but according to Kentucky Department of Corrections records, he was listed as absconded.
