Iconic Lexington restaurateur to delay retirement, says officer manager

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Joe Bologna, owner of well-known eatery Joe Bologna’s pizza restaurant on Maxwell Street, apparently is planning to delay his retirement, at least until the end of the year.

That information is posted on a sign, dated Thursday, June 13th.

ABC36 News Now first reported in March about Bologna’s decision to retire from the restaurant, when he told us he was looking for a buyer for the business. At that time, he said he would stay on to help train new owners. In March, he told ABC36’s Jane Davenport he had five people vying for the restaurant.

Some people have been going to the restaurant since it opened, and Bologna says he considers his customers to be family.

This is a developing story, which we’ll update when we learn of Bologna’s future plans and those of the pizza restaurant.
