Hyatt Regency Lexington Evacuated Because Of Fire

Investigators said a downtown Lexington Hotel was evacuated Tuesday morning because of a fire.

Firefighters said it started in the dryer room at the Hyatt Regency.

The lint was reportedly in the drop ceiling.

When someone came in and turned on the light switch, firefighters said the lint caught fire.

No one was hurt, according to the fire department.

The U.T. Arlington basketball team was staying at the Hyatt ahead of its game with the Cats.

The players were among the guests who evacuated the hotel.

Broadway was also closed for a short time.

Firefighters said the incident was an important reminder on why it’s so important to keep your dryer vents and lint traps clean.
