How Bourbon County residents can report mailbox damage from snowplows
BOURBON COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — After days of snow and ice cleanup across Bourbon County, some residents are finding an unexpected casualty of winter weather: damaged mailboxes.
The Bourbon County Fiscal Court says mailbox damage is a common issue when road crews are working quickly to clear snow and keep roads safe during severe weather.
Officials are asking residents to report damage based on the type of road they live on.
If you live on a county road — typically those without painted lines — you should contact the Bourbon County Judge’s Office to report the issue.
For those who live on state roads, which usually have painted lane markings, reports should be made to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s District 7 office.
In either case, residents will need to provide their name, phone number and address.
The Bourbon County Road Department says repairs and replacements will begin once the severe weather has passed and crews have completed snow removal and salting operations across the county.
