House passes bill to expand sex offender registry requirements
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – A committee in the Kentucky House approved a bill Wednesday that expands existing state laws that prohibit registered sex offenders from being on the grounds of or living within 1,000 feet of a public playground.
If the bill becomes laws, those same requirements would apply to publicly operated playgrounds on leased property.
The measure is sponsored by Representative Savannah Maddox, of Dry Ridge, and was passed by members of the House with a voting record of 85-9.
House Bill 204 will now move to the Senate.
