House fire shuts down Short St. in Lexington
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Firefighters say a fire started in the attic of a two-story house Friday afternoon. It happened on Short Street in Lexington.
The fire department says it arrived on the scene to find smoke and flames visible from outside. Officials say everyone in the house got out okay on their own, aside from the family dog. But firefighters say they rushed in, and were able to save the pet.
As the department battled the fire, it had to call in extra crews because of the heat. Short Street is shut down for now, authorities say, and there is no current estimate for how long it will be closed. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
