Hot plate blamed for barn fire at Thoroughbred Center

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Firefighters say a hot plate is blamed for a fire at the Thoroughbred Center on Paris Pike in Lexington. It happened Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators say the fire started in a barn. Workers were reportedly heating oats for the horses when a horse knocked over a hot plate. Crews say some nearby hay caught fire.

Several fire trucks rushed to the scene. But firefighters say Thoroughbred Center workers already had the flames under control when they arrived.

Just a few weeks ago, another fire at the training center nearly destroyed a building.
