Homicide investigation underway in Rowan County

ROWAN COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Kentucky State Police and the Rowan County Coroner are investigating a homicide reported on Christmas Eve in Rowan County.

Morehead 911 received a call at about 5:27 p.m. reporting a man had been shot in the 6000 block of Christy Creek Road. Kentucky State Police, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Department, Rowan County EMS and the Elliottville Fire Department responded.

The Rowan County Coroner pronounced a 39-year-old man dead in a residence driveway. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The body was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy.

The investigation is ongoing and is being led by KSP Sgt. Newt Robinson and Rowan County Coroner John Northcutt.
