Homeschool team takes home top honors in ultimate frisbee tourney

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- It was a good day to grab your disc in Lexington. LexCath played host to the Kentucky Ultimate Frisbee state championship.

More than 50 young men and women from six Kentucky high schools competed. The host had a team along with Lafayette, the Lexington Home School Collective, Mercer County, CovCath and Notre Dame Academy.

It’s the first year the group has participated in the highest level of sanctioning through USA Ultimate although they’ve been hosting the tourney for four years now.

"It’s so fun. Everyone that plays has really good spirit and it’s just really fun to be out here and playing with the frisbee community. I came to one practice because my friend told me about it and I fell in love with it from day one. It’s a really fun sport," said Jake Carrico, a third-year player.

The Lexington Home School Collective took top honors.
