Jessamine County home heavily damaged by fire
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – There was quite a scene in Jessamine County, near the Fayette County line, as a house caught fire.
It happened at the Crosswood Place subdivision on Harrodsburg Road, near Southland Christian Church.
The fire broke out around 4:00 p.m. Wednesday.
Firefighters say it started on the first floor of the house, around the fireplace. The fire then moved up the walls to the second floor.
According to firefighters, the first floor has minimal damage with just a few holes in the ceiling, but they say the second floor was destroyed.
Firefighters say the homeowner tried to put the fire out with buckets of water, but it was too much for him to handle on his own.
According to firefighters, the family lost several Christmas gifts in the fire, among other items.
Firefighters say no one was injured.
The cause is still under investigation.
