Hollywood comes to Lexington to film motion picture
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – It’s lights, camera, action on the set of “The Stand-In,” a film starring Drew Barrymore.
“It’s a wonderful place to work. The extras are very kind, they’re very excited, the police have been wonderful in helping us shut down the street, the hotel is beautiful where were staying,” says director Jamie Babbit.
On Tuesday, extras dressed up as New Yorkers on Main Street downtown, and as nuns inside a Lexington Church.
“I actually got asked to be a stand-in for one of the actors. So that was exciting, got to be right up front with Drew Barrymore as she was delivering her lines, and it was really something to watch her work and watch the other actors work,” says ABC 36’s Lyssa High.
Lyssa and her husband Doug are both extras for the film.
The Wrigley Media Group says around 9,000 people applied to be extras. Only about 100 were selected.
It shows the support that Kentuckians have for the filmmaking industry, and I think it’s important that we’re in the game,” says Misdee Wrigley Miller, owner of the Wrigley Media Group, a Lexington based company helping to produce the film.
The director expects filming to wrap up this week.
