History made in Attorney General Race
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A history making result came out of the Attorney General’s race.
Republican newcomer Daniel Cameron is the first African America elected to state office on his own ticket.
The distinction is that current Lt. Governor Jenean Hampton was the first African American elected to a state office but on a slate with Matt Bevin.
Cameron is a former U-of-L football player who went on to become a law clerk and general counsel to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
At President Trump’s rally Monday night in Rupp Arena, Donald Trump made it a point to bring Cameron to the stage, calling him a rising star in the republican party.
