Historic Jackson County ministry building destroyed by fire; no injuries reported
JACKSON COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A devastating fire has destroyed a historic building tied to more than a century of ministry in Jackson County, prompting an emotional response from the community and first responders.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, emergency crews from multiple local fire departments responded late Wednesday night to the working fire in the 4600 block of Highway 290, directly in front of Pond Creek Fire Department. As firefighters battled the flames, Highway 3630 was shut down in both directions.
Grace Covenant Ministries later confirmed the building that burned was Lincoln Hall—an iconic structure founded on the vision of Reverend Worthington in 1909. In a heartfelt Facebook post, the ministry thanked God for the legacy of the building and for the firefighters who worked tirelessly to protect nearby structures, including Sexton Hall and Annville Community Church.
Crews remained on the scene for over seven hours to monitor flare-ups. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
“We may only see the ugliness of a fire, but God sees the big picture and He has a plan,” the ministry wrote, calling on supporters to pray for wisdom and strength as they move forward.
