Hiker rescued safely after getting lost in Red River Gorge
WOLFE COUNTY, KY. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A hiker is safe after getting lost in the Red River Gorge Tuesday evening.
The Wolfe County Search and Rescue Team received a 911 call at 5:30 p.m. after the woman had been hiking for nearly five hours. Using a locator link, rescuers pinpointed her on a cliff above the Sheltowee Trace and Gladie Creek.
Teams accessed her location via Klaber Ridge on a UTV and hiked about a mile to reach her. She was found in good spirits, uninjured, and relieved as darkness fell and temperatures dropped.
Officials note this is the second rescue in the past year at nearly the same spot and urge hikers to pay close attention to trail intersections in the area.
