Hiker rescued after suffering hip injury

STANTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Powell County Search and Rescue teams had a busy Saturday, responding to a hiker rescue just hours after completing a morning rope training exercise.

According to rescue officials, crews were called out around 2:50 p.m. to Rough Trail, where a hiker had fallen about ten feet and suffered a hip injury. The patient was carried out using a Stokes basket.

Powell County EMS took the hiker by ambulance to Clark Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Wolfe County Search and Rescue, Powell County EMS, and the U.S. Forest Service assisted in the rescue effort. Crews cleared the scene around 6 p.m.
