Highway blocked after milk spill
COLUMBIA, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Kentucky highway was blocked most of Friday after a trailer loaded with milk spilled its contents all over KY 55 just north of Columbia in Adair County following a two-vehicle collision that left two people critically injured, according to State Police.
A preliminary investigation found that 66-year old Brenda Stephens of Columbia was driving a 2014 Chrysler when she pulled into the path of a 2015 Freightliner, driven by 48-year old Lester Price of Olympia, according to State Police.
The collision caused Price’s truck to overturn, spilling milk all over KY 55, according to investigators. Both Price and Stephens were airlifted from Westlake Hospital to UK Hospital in Lexington, where they were listed in critical, but stable condition, according to KSP.
Investigators say Price was wearing his seat belt, but that Stephens was not belted-in.
The accident remains under investigation.
