Henderson hospital’s patient files hacked

HENDERSON, Ky. (WTVQ/CNN) – The FBI is investigating a cyber-attack at a hospital in western Kentucky.

Officials say hackers locked patient files and demanded money to regain access to them at Methodist Hospital in Henderson.

In a prepared statement, the hospital said “no patient data or records were compromised.”

The hospital did now, however, clarify what documents were affected.

Methodist Hospital refused to pay the ransom saying it simply shut down the infected part of the computer system, relying instead on backup copies.

The hospital says it’s now coordinating with the FBI and the Henderson Police Department.
