Help for Haiti after Hurricane Matthew
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Central Kentucky missionary is raising money to send help to Haiti after Hurricane Matthew.
Crystal Lawson has been to Haiti countless times working with the Hugs from God Missions team. She was there just days before the storm hit.
“I knew it was going to be bad because I knew from tracking the radar where my village was that they were in the path of the hurricane,” said Lawson.
Torrential downpours and dangerous flooding have wiped out much of the country that was already trying to rebuild after a devastating earthquake in 2010.
The death toll in Haiti from Hurricane Matthew has risen to at least 108, according to the Interior Minister.
“No matter how bad it is, I know God can fix this,” said Lawson.
She is looking to raise money to help the Haitian people rebuild and to provide food. Lawson also hopes to find sponsors for families to keep them fed and send the children to school.
