Heater causes fire that destroys several Georgetown storage units

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) – One person is in the hospital after a heater exploded inside his storage unit Friday morning.

According to the fire department, it happened at JLS Mini Storage on Maple Grove Road around 6:30 a.m.

Firefighters say the fire started inside one of the storage units after a heater exploded. According to the fire department, one of the renters was using that heater inside his unit when it caught fire.

That person was taken to Georgetown Community Hospital to be treated for minor burns.

Investigators say the cause of the fire is accidental.
