Heat Stroke Prevention Day
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration teamed up with Safe Kids Worldwide to promote National Heat Stroke Day.
The groups concentrated their efforts on spreading awareness about dangers of leaving a child in a hot car, and took their campaign to social media, tweeting and posting to facebook throughout the day.
In Lexington, firefighters reminded people that despite the recent cooler weather, leaving a child in a car is still dangerous and should never be an option. The NHTSA says if you see a child alone in a hot vehicle, call 911 immediately.
