Health officials warn of possible measles exposure at Ark Encounter, Grant County hotel
GRANT COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Health officials in Northern Kentucky are warning the public about a potential measles exposure connected to a popular tourist attraction and a hotel in Grant County.
According to the Kentucky Department for Public Health, an unvaccinated out-of-state traveler stayed at the Holiday Inn and Suites in Dry Ridge from Dec. 28 through Dec. 30. Officials say that individual also visited the Ark Encounter in Williamstown on Dec. 29.
The Department for Public Health says measles is a highly contagious respiratory virus that can cause serious health complications, especially in young children and people who are not vaccinated.
Health officials are urging anyone who believes they may have been exposed to contact their health care provider for guidance. They say people should call ahead before visiting a doctor’s office or emergency room to help prevent potential spread.
Officials continue to monitor the situation and say additional information will be released if needed.
