Health Department Offers $3 Rabies Shots For Pets
Owners can get shots for their dogs or cats for $3 from 6:00pm-9:00pm at the Third Street Fire Station, 219 E. Third St.
State law requires all dogs, cats, and ferrets have an up-to-date rabies vaccination.
Rabies is a virus that is transmitted from animals to humans through saliva, usually from a bite.
Luke Mathis, one of the organizers says the goal of the event is to improve public health by offering an opportunity to protect pets and people from the disease.
Lexington-Fayette Animal Care and Control will also be at the clinic selling licenses for $8 if the animal has been spayed or neutered and $40 without proof of alteration.
