Headless Horseman to appear at Keeneland Saturday

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Keeneland welcomes fans for a special Halloween edition of Sunrise Trackside featuring a children’s costume contest with Buckles, the Keeneland Kids Club mascot, at 9:20 a.m. ET in the Paddock area. Buckles will award Kids Club prize packages to contest winners.

Another Halloween tradition at Keeneland is the appearance of the Headless Horseman. During Sunrise Trackside, the ghostly figure will ride through the Saddling Paddock at 9 a.m. The Headless Horseman also will be featured on the main track in the afternoon following Race 3 (post time 2:12 p.m.).

Sunrise Trackside kicks off at 7 a.m. with Breakfast With the Works (available until 8:30 a.m.) and children’s activities in the Kids Club Corner (until 9 a.m.).

Other activities include a demonstration by Old Mims Retirement Haven featuring 1997 Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) winner Elmhurst at 9:05 a.m. in the Saddling Paddock, a trackside handicapping seminar at 11:30 a.m. and a Q&A session with jockey Ricardo Santana Jr. in the Walking Ring at 12:05 p.m.

The Headless Horseman is scheduled to appear on the main track after Race 3 at 2:12 p.m.
