Hayes retires as Kentucky economic development secretary

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) – Larry Hayes is leaving as secretary of the Kentucky Economic Development Cabinet.

The departure was announced by Gov. Steve Beshear’s office Friday in a news release that said Beshear is appointing Deputy Secretary Erik Dunnigan as acting secretary while he considers candidates.

Hayes announced earlier this year he would retire from the position but had not given a date. He also served in the Beshear administration as secretary of the Executive Cabinet.

Beshear’s news release said he was recently sent names of candidates by a search committee.
