Harry Hall wins the 2024 ISCO Championship
The Englishman wins in a playoff at Keene Trace
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW)- Harry Hall’s winning attempt on the third hole of the 2024 ISCO Championship Final Round playoff was a long shot, literally.
Hall’s tee shot landed 45 feet and six inches away from the hole.
That’s more than twice as far as competitor Matt NeSmith’s ball landed away from the par three pin at 21 feet away. The three round frontrunner Pierceson Coody’s ball was 23 feet away.
Nonetheless, his chip into the cup went the distance it needed to and Hall birdied his third playoff hole after going for par on the previous two.
His challengers couldn’t convert on their attempts and Hall is now a PGA Tour champion for the first time ever.
The Big Shot
“Before I chipped that, I was thinking that (my college coach) would have loved to see me win a PGA Tour event by chipping it in,” said Hall, who attended UNLV. “That was really nice.”
The Cornwall, England native surged to the front of the pack on Sunday and stayed alive in the three hole playoff by making par on the first two holes.
Chipping was key for Hall throughout the sudden death playoff.
“I grew up at West Cornwall Golf Club which is basically on the beach. We didn’t really have a driving range and all we had was a chipping green. I was really comfortable with that,” said Hall.
What’s Next for Hall
With the win, Hall has access to both the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour.
He hopes that after a long time playing in the United States, his home will be a place he can compete again.
“Hopefully I can get into some signature events back in the United Kingdom and I can play in front of a home crowd,” said Hall, who earns $720,000 and 300 FedEx Cup points with the win.
Aside from golf, Hall’s wife is set to be induced on Tuesday with a due date of July 19 as they plan to welcome their first child together.
“I might not play next week. I probably won’t,” said Hall.
