Harrodsburg Students Raise Money For National Guard Memorial
The students raised over $5,000 for the memorial and will present it the the Kentucky National Guard Memorial Fund committee during a Veterans Day ceremony at the school Monday.
The program kicks off at 9 am in the school’s auditorium. Veterans and members of the public are encouraged to attend.
Every penny that the students donate will go toward constructions of a memorial to honor fallen Kentucky Guardsmen. The memorial is set to be built at the entrance of the Boone National Guard Center in Frankfort.
The memorial project started in 2008 and is expected to be completed by Veterans Day 2014. The money raised for the memorial has been purely volunteer driven with an estimated $700,000 still needed to finish the memorial.
