Harrison County Girl Spends Birthday Helping Others

A 10-year-old Harrison County girl spent her birthday making sure childhood cancer patients had something of their own to enjoy.

Lauren McNees didn’t want presents or a birthday party when she turned 10 in early January. Instead, McNees requested something different.

She asked her mother if her birthday could be spent taking up donations and making kits for kids battling cancer at UK’s children’s hospital.

Those kits were assembled at McNees’ "party" Saturday.
