Harrison County EMS Collecting Donations For Family Who Lost Home

A man’s home burned down Wednesday in Harrison County.  Now, the community is giving back trying to help the family recover.

Charles Cole likes to help others.

"I just do," said Cole.

For more than 20 years, Cole has shared his home with others who don’t have one.

"It’s been a warm little place," said Cole.

On this Thanksgiving, Harrison County EMS collect donations.

"We’ve got a couple fleece jackets in there," said paramedic Mel Parker.

They’re collecting donations for Cole.  His home burned down Wednesday.  Cole said the fire started from a kerosene heater.  Cole lived there with his son plus a woman and her two kids.

"I was trying to help them and keep them safe and warm, and it just didn’t turn out that way," said Cole.

Cole’s neighbor Donald Richie stopped by with food.

"He’s a good guy," said Richie about Cole.

Cole said he’s stopped asking why.

"I’s not home anymore, but we’ll try to see what we can do to make it home again," said Cole.

You can drop donations off at Harrison County EMS at 101 Rodgers Park Drive in Cynthiana.
