Harlan County man arrested after firing shots at deputies during domestic dispute
CLOSLPINT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A tense domestic situation in Harlan County ended in an arrest after deputies say a man held his family at knifepoint and then opened fire on law enforcement.
According to the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened late Saturday night when 51-year-old Stacy Huff allegedly became intoxicated and threatened relatives with both a knife and a gun.
When deputies and Evarts police arrived, investigators say Huff fired shots at them. No injuries were reported.
After more than an hour of negotiations, Huff agreed to surrender shortly after midnight.
He was taken to the Harlan County Detention Center and is facing domestic violence charges and two counts of attempted murder of a peace officer.
Multiple agencies, including Kentucky State Police, assisted in the response.
