Handel’s Messiah – Christ Church Cathedral
Presented in the beauty of the historic Cathedral, Handel’s Messiah is the essential Christmas music experience. The Lexington Baroque Ensemble, guest soloists and the Cathedral’s boy, girl and men’s choirs join forces under the direction of Canon Musician Erich Balling. In the early 1800’s, Christ Church Cathedral offered the first Lexington performance of this work. Today, it is considered by many to be the premier performance of its kind in the city.
The sound of the Cathedral Choir is similar to the sound of those that sing during the royal weddings in England, as they use children to sing the soprano parts. The youth participate in the Cathedral’s choir and music education program that is available to all. Admission in by audition.
