Hall of Fame coach Al Prewitt dies

LEXINGTON, KY (WTVQ) – Former Henry Clay Basketball Coach Al Prewitt has passed away.
He was 86 years old.

Al Prewitt, a great athlete (Henry Clay and Transy) and a great coach (Henry Clay), passed away this morning. He was 86. Perhaps his proudest moment in sports was coaching Henry Clay to the 1983 state basketball championship. He will be missed. RIP.

Prewitt coached Henry Clay High School to the 1983 KHSAA Boys Sweet 16 state title.
During his tenure, Henry Clay appeared in eight Sweet 16’s.
He was inducted into the KHSAA Hall of Fame in 1996.
Henry Clay’s gymnasium is named after Prewitt in his honor.
