Hacker causes concern at school, person identified
FLEMING COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A hacker who took over a student’s account created some concern at Fleming County High School this morning but law enforcement have determined the threat wasn’t credible and the matter has been resolved for now.
Flemingsburg Police and state troopers were at the campus Monday morning for safety and reassurance.
“This threat was made from a student account; however, to be clear this account was hacked. The individual who used another student’s account to post the threat has been identified. After further investigation we have deemed that the threat was not credible,” Superintendent Brian Creasman said in a social media post late Monday morning, thanking parents and students who alerted school officials Sunday night.
Sunday night, Creasman and the district notified parents of the potential threat and reassured them.
“Extra police officers will be on campus tomorrow out of abundance of caution. To be clear the school is safe,” Creasman said Sunday night.
“We commend the students and parents/guardians who immediately notified school officials of this threat. We will be following all district policies and will hold the individual who made the threat accountable to the fullest extent of the law,” he added.
