Habitat, Police Hold Event To Clean Up Neighborhoods

The Lexington Police Department is joining efforts with Habitat for Humanity for an event they said will help increase community safety.
The "We Care – Love Your Neighborhood" event is taking place Thursday, July 24th from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
It will bring together Lexington Habitat for Humanity, the Lexington Police Department and the Department of Corrections to clean out brush and fence rows, trim trees, pick up trash and complete other light exterior clean-up work on 20 homes. The groups are starting at 433 Douglas Avenue and working on surrounding streets.
"This partnership gives us the opportunity to strengthen our community by bringing hope to an area where we have served many families," said Lexington Habitat CEO Rachel Childress. "We are proud to work with the police department in the We Care campaign. This project will set the foundation for future work in the Georgetown Street and other neighborhoods in our community."
Lexington Habitat’s "Love Your Neighborhood" program helps with general clean up in areas where Habitat creates affordable housing.
