Gymboree in Hamburg closing

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Gymboree store in Hamburg in Lexington is one of 350 being closed across the country following the company’s bankruptcy filing in June, according to the company.

The store in Florence Mall is the only other Kentucky location slated for closing, which means the Gymboree in Fayette Mall in Lexington will remain open, according to the company’s website.

The closing sales at affected stores are expected to begin Tuesday, July 18, 2017, according to a website on the restructuring.

Customers will be able to redeem Gymbucks at closing stores through July 31, 2017. After that, Gymbucks earned at a closing store can be redeemed online or in remaining stores.

The Gymboree closings are the latest in a troubling trend across the nation. So far this year, 5,300 store closings have been announced, according to retail think tank, Fung Global Retail & Technology.
